Frequently Asked Questions about Postpartum Doula Services

Please reach us at Rootedrvadoula@gmail.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

A postpartum doula provides nonjudgmental support to families after the birth of a baby. My role is to care for both the parent(s) and the baby—offering rest, reassurance, infant care, feeding support, emotional check-ins, and education. I’m here to help ease the transition and ensure you don’t feel alone during this important time.

Overnight support allows you to rest while I care for your baby through the night. I handle diaper changes, bottle feeding or bringing baby to you for nursing, soothing, and keeping track of baby's needs—so you can sleep knowing your little one is in caring, capable hands.

As a certified infant sleep specialist, I offer gentle, developmentally appropriate guidance through my Nurtured Nights Plan. This includes a personalized sleep strategy based on your baby’s age, temperament, and needs, along with check-ins to offer support as you implement changes. I don’t use cry-it-out or rigid sleep training methods—my approach is responsive, respectful, and tailored to your family.

Yes! I have personal experience navigating infant reflux and cow’s milk protein allergies (CMPA), and I understand how overwhelming those early feeding challenges can be. I’m here to offer practical tips, a listening ear, and help you advocate for your baby’s needs.

Absolutely. As a parent to an autistic child, and being neurodivergent myself, I bring personal understanding and a neurodivergent-affirming approach to care. I welcome all families—whether you're neurodivergent yourself or supporting a neurodivergent child.

I serve families in Richmond, Virginia and surrounding areas. If you're unsure whether you're in my service area, feel free to reach out!

The earlier the better—especially for overnight support, as my availability can fill quickly. That said, I always try to accommodate last-minute needs when possible, so don’t hesitate to reach out.

You can contact me directly through my website, email, or phone to schedule a free consultation. We’ll talk about your needs, and if it’s a good fit, we’ll move forward with a care plan tailored just for you.
